Information Sharing Project

A central part of United Policyholders' mission is to educate and unite insureds with current information on insurance issues. Consistent with that mission, United Policyholders serves as a clearinghouse for documents relating to disability insurance policies. UP launched this service after being swamped with requests for information by disabled policyholders and their advocates. ISP documents are available to policyholders, policyholder advocates and employees of governmental agencies only.

These documents are relevant to the majority of disability policyholders in the United States because most people who buy disability insurance are insured by one company comprised of former merged competitors UNUM, Provident Accident and Life, and Paul Revere. The documents indicate a business strategy to boost profits by unfairly denying disability claims. Many thousands of disabled insureds throughout the United States appear to have been the victims of this strategy.

How to Order Documents

The documents currently available through UP's Info Sharing Project include claims manuals, policy forms, transcripts, evidence, whistleblower and other deposition testimony and jury instructions from coverage and bad faith litigation. If you are a policyholder, a policyholder advocate or an employee of a government agency and would like to obtain copies of these or other materials:

STEP 1: Send an e-mail requesting ordering information to Machelle Jaarsma at mpjaarsma@cox.net.

STEP 2: Submit your order to Ms. Jaarsma via e-mail and she will calculate the amount owing.

STEP 3: For fastest delivery, pay via the secure online payment.
