Disaster Recovery Community Update set for Wednesday at Lahaina Civic Center

A status update on wildfire debris cleanup will be provided by the US Army Corps of Engineers on Wednesday, Oct. 9, during a Maui County Disaster Recovery Community Update meeting at the Lahaina Civic Center. The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. in the social hall.

Representatives of the Federal Emergency Management Agency are scheduled to give a presentation on plans to place modular homes on property sites within wildfire-impacted areas. State Insurance Commissioner Gordon Ito will offer information on his office’s efforts. Nonprofit United Policy Holders will share information on the organization’s Roadmap to Recovery program, which offers guidance tools and resources to help navigate insurance claims. The Maui Humane Society will give an update on its Lahaina Resource Center and Mobile Wellness Clinic.

The meeting will be livestreamed on Maui County’s Facebook page. No account is needed for viewing. Akakū: Maui Community Media will show a live broadcast of the meeting on Channel 53.
