Santa Rosa fire to host wildfire preparedness resource fair

The Santa Rosa Fire Department and other fire experts will provide free tools and advice for wildfire preparation this weekend during a resource fair.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, residents can attend seminars addressing aspects of fire safety, participate in one of three emergency go-bag workshops and explore the more than 20 booths set up by local agencies and organizations at the Finley Community Center.
The go-bag workshops have a maximum capacity of 50 people each, so attendees are encouraged to RSVP online on the Eventbrite page. Those in the groups at 10:30 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. will get a free go-bag, which they will learn how to customize and update to be ready at a moment’s notice.
During the seminars at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., speakers will discuss how to make homes less susceptible to wildfire, what the city is doing to better alert residents, extinguish fires and evacuate residents during an emergency and how to take care of and evacuate animals during a wildfire, respectively.
Some of the groups featured in the 20 plus booths will be United Policyholders, a non-profit that aims to provide trustworthy information for insurance buyers and claimants, and various city departments, such as the emergency management office.
Local business Mamadios Philly Cheese Steaks will provide food for purchase.
