UP on panel at joint Senate/Assembly Hearing on Post-Wildfire Insurance Issues

On Tuesday, October 30th, 2018 UP Executive Director Amy Bach will be on the speaker panel at a joint public hearing at Napa Valley College convened by the California Senate and Insurance Committees to examine root causes and potential solutions for solving the post-wildfire underinsurance crisis.  Surveys conducted by United Policyholders consistently confirm that an average of 2/3 of households that lose homes in wildfires find themselves grossly underinsured.  UP is publicizing this hearing in the communities impacted by the 2017 wildfires to encourage public participation and attendance.

UP has been working for decades to solve this problem.  We offer many resources to help policyholders take steps to avoid this problem before a loss and solve this problem after a loss. We have assisted in providing background materials for this hearing and look forward to educating lawmakers by sharing our data and perspectives.
