We are fire survivors living on the property in a travel trailer and are in the very early stages of rebuilding- no building permit yet or timeline on completion. We have AAA and California Fair Plan (CFP) and were informed by CFP that we will be dropped this year as there is no structure on the property. AAA informed us that the only way the coverage could continue is if our contractor provided a completion date for their rebuild. We are concerned about losing coverage while we are living on the property. We want to make sure our trailer and possessions are still covered.

Karl Susman Expert answered 1 year ago I’m so sorry to hear about the loss. Yes, FAIR Plan will insure structures, however it doesn’t sound as if there is one there at the current address. My recommendation would be to obtain a course of construction policy for the work being done and also a policy to cover your travel trailer and personal property. These are readily available types of policies and shouldn’t be too difficult to get. Happy to help point you in the right direction if you need.
