We were right in the eye of Beryl in July 2024. The inspector for the insurance company came out, looked at the roof, but never came into the house. We were told that we have wind and hail damage up there, I will submit the damages to your adjuster. We received a denial, below the deductible. Meanwhile, all of our neighbors got their roofs replaced by insurance claims. I felt the $757 worth of damage (being below a misquoted deductible of $16,700) when it should have been $10,020 was outlandish as the second value is a named storm (hurricane deductible) which is, from what I understand, the ticket to getting a roof replaced.
I retained an attorney and I keep finding more questions about my policy every week! The insurance company has now removed my ability to view my policy online. I now realize the adjuster does not mention what specific damages were found in the inspecton, and the adjuster said that the metal (cosmetic) roofs are not covered under my policy endorsements. I am fine with that because I do not own a metal roof on my property! Are they making a mistake in their denial or are they acting in bad faith!?
