Peter Sloan serves as the assistant to the Executive Director, working closely with senior staff to support the organization’s advocacy work, preparedness programs, development, communications, and operations.
Raised in Ashland, Oregon, Peter received a double BA from St. John’s College in Philosophy and the History of Science and Mathematics with a focus on the Philosophy of Technology and Nature. Growing up in one of the United States’ most wildfire-prone areas, he understands firsthand the importance of UP’s preparedness and recovery support as well as the broader urgency of renegotiating how communities mutualize property risk and respond to natural disasters. Before joining UP, Peter held roles as a Researcher for the Humane Leadership Institute, Film Archivist and Communications Strategist for the Metro Film and Arts Foundation, and Head of Photo and Video Content for the St. John’s College student media team.
