With the recent Japan and New Zealand earthquakes as a backdrop, we are mindful of the risk we face in the Bay Area from earthquakes. The close proximity of faults, coupled with a large population of older houses, puts a huge percentage of our housing at risk. Our residents are the foundation of this region, but without adequate housing, that foundation begins to crumble. Learn what local governments can do even in these tough economic times to reduce damage to housing and prepare to build back quickly after an earthquake.
