Adjustors

We are now on our 4th person assisting us with our claim. Our third adjuster is taking an extended time off (no dates given). They brought a person in to look after his files and submit items for review. He said that person should be able to make change requests and submit for approval. I remember on one of the Zooms with United Policyholders, they said that after 3 adjusters they have to give you a permanent person or something along those lines. Can you let me know what the rules are on the number of adjusters? Also, how do you move up the ranks to their supervisor? I feel like there is a black hole most of the time when I send information.

Hi Lisa, there is no limit in the number of adjusters a carrier can assign. However, there is a process that the carriers must adhere to in the event that 3+ adjusters have been involved in your claim. UP has a great resource (see page 17) that explains these requirements:

It is frustrating and difficult when your adjusters change and you cannot get a hold of a supervisor. This is very common although not ‘best practices’ to settling a claim quickly, thoroughly and easily for all parties. The best way to ‘move up the food chain’ to a supervisor is to verbally request a supervisor and then memorialize your request. We would also recommend attempting to contact the claims department directly in lieu of your adjuster; you may reach another carrier representative who is willing to share supervisory information.
