Claim Denied, Concluded That Windstorm Is Not Covered

A few weeks ago, two healthy eucalyptus trees fell in the middle of the night, smashing my garage, driveway, and cars on the street. One of the trees also ripped up the sewer main line that runs through my property’s easements.

I submitted a claim to AAA, which has covered my homeowner’s insurance for 16 years. They dropped but then split my insurance, partly covered by CA Fair Plan last year. I have never made any claims before until now.

AAA declined the claim, stating that they don’t cover Windstorm; and suggested me to file a claim with CA Fair Plan. Their denial doc provided data from Benchmark Weather History for the location at the address with est. wind gust speed of 35 mph. All photos show no other wind damage found. Their statement for dwelling roof: “No wind related damage reported/observed”

I also found this Storm Explainer article from AAA to be interesting: https://magazine.northeast.aaa.com/daily/insurance/homeowners-insurance/storm-explainer/

My question is, how would we (or they) conclude that windstorms cause a damage based on wind speed? Should I appeal?
