Fawn Nekton is a recognized expert in the insurance arena with specializations in personal lines, corporate and non-profit insurance. In addition to the guidance she provides she also serves as a strategic advisor to both start-up non-profits as well as established operations that the directly benefit the local Sonoma County community and Northern California. She has provided her expertise via numerous media vehicles (radio, newspaper, web, articles, interviews, etc.) in regards to the fires and flooding that have plagued Sonoma County and Northern CA in the last 5 years by launching successful campaigns to inform the public about services available to them and future steps to help mitigate loss.
Fawn purchased Gaffney Insurance in 2010 and has led the successful rebranding, renaming and modernization of the company. This included development of the new name (Open Door Insurance), logos, marketing materials, building of a new website, and moving the company from a paper-based organization to the cloud. Under her leadership she has doubled the corporate revenues, increased headcount and expanded Open Door’s non-profit and business client list significantly. She has also dramatically expanded Open Door’s personal lines business both by volume and geographic reach. Additionally she has spearheaded the acquisition of two other agencies that expanded her regional footprint to included Oregon, the North Coast and Marin County.
Fawn is the current President of the Occidental Community Council and has been a member for more than 20 years. She leads the organization’s biggest fundraiser annually and is critical in identifying and helping local residents and programs in need. She served on the Harmony School Board for ten years and ushered in countless improvements including the development and construction of the new environmental learning building on campus. Fawn currently leads the Fire Safe Camp Meeker program and is on the board of Safer West County, a new nonprofit developed to address fire and emergency service issues in West Sonoma County. Fawn is a founding member of the Bohemian Corridor Business Association and a member of six Chambers of Commerce.
In addition to all the community-based work Fawn participates in she is also a job creator and an advocate and advisor for women-owned businesses.
