Joel Laucher is a former Chief Deputy Commissioner for the California Department of Insurance where he had a 35 year career. Upon retirement, he joined United Policyholders as a Program Specialist lending his expertise to educate homeowners through the Roadmap to Preparedness program and protecting consumer rights through our Advocacy and Action program.

His expertise comes from an impressive tenure at the CDI which included stops in Market Conduct, Consumer Services, and Rate Regulation. While with the CDI he appreciated partnering with UP to help claimants at post wildfire events. Prior to joining the CDI, Joel was a commercial insurance underwriter for 5 years. Joel graduated from UC Santa Cruz – a long time ago.
