Julitza Perez is an attorney with expertise in insurance claims, disaster recovery and resilience. She currently serves as a Local Liaison for the national insurance consumer non-profit organization, United Policyholders’ Hurricane Ian Roadmap to Recovery program. Through this program, United Policyholders is assisting hurricane-impacted households in navigating the recovery and insurance claim process, overcoming obstacles, resolving disputes and completing repairs. Julitza is also responsible for monitoring the home insurance marketplace and insurance-related legislative developments in the State of Florida to keep United Policyholders’ guidance and website materials up to date and provide accurate guidance to Florida residents.
A 2011 Cum Laude graduate of the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus and a 2014 graduate of the Inter American University, School of Law in Puerto Rico, Julitza is currently licensed in Puerto Rico and the U.S. District Court of Colorado. She served as a law clerk for the Appellate Court of Puerto Rico, and currently resides in Clearwater, Florida.
Prior to joining United Policyholders staff in 2023, she was employed with the Merlin Law Group in Tampa, Florida. She conducted research and was a contributor to Merlin Law Group’s Property Insurance Coverage Law Blog and Condominium Insurance Law Blog on topics related to property insurance claims in Puerto Rico.
