Adding FireWise Discount California Fair Plan, can’t get right map

I tried using the FireWise tool and a cert my insured sent me to add the Firewise discount to her CFP policy; CPF  said the map was unacceptable. I reached out to NFPA, they said they couldn’t help me and to reach out here or the DOI. I don’t see how the DOI can help me get a map, even here: https://www.nfpa.org/education-and-research/wildfire/firewise-usa

Hi Ashley,

We understand your frustration with trying to get the FireWise discount applied to your client’s CFP policy. Insurance documentation requirements can be challenging, especially when different organizations don’t provide clear guidance. Based on what you’ve described, it seems California FAIR Plan (CFP) rejected the map documentation from the FireWise tool, and NFPA (who runs FireWise) redirected you elsewhere to the DOI and to UP.

You can try the following:

-Contact the local FireWise community coordinator for your client’s specific recognized site. Each FireWise community has a local coordinator who should have access to the official documentation needed for insurance purposes.

-Try reaching out to the DOI again to gain clarity on what documentation CFP is required to accept for FireWise discounts.

-Request a specific description from CFP about what type of map documentation they will accept (specific -format, information that must be included, etc.).

-Check if your client’s FireWise community has a specific “Certificate of Recognition” document that might be more acceptable to CFP than the map you submitted.
