Our residential home in California had a FireLine score of 0 in September 2025. For our 2026 renewal, that score increased dramatically to 52.
Nothing has changed in our neighborhood, which was built in the late 1970s through the mid-1980s, and there have been no fires—wildfire or otherwise. There have also been no changes to our property, other than the removal of a eucalyptus tree in our front yard a couple of months ago.
My question is: Why would our FireLine score have changed so dramatically?
I intend to contact my insurance company to discuss this and would like to appeal the change if appropriate. I would appreciate any guidance or recommendations that United Policyholders can provide regarding this process.
Thank you for your assistance.
