New damage related to Wildfire – new claim?

Hello,

My home suffered smoke /ash damage related to the Los Angeles Wildfires (Eaton) in early January 2025, which resulted in wildfire combustion products to be deposited on the roof. I have an open claim regarding smoke /ash damage to the home currently. In Feb 2025, a rainstorm caused ceiling and wall water damage; I believe this was caused by blockage of drain on the roof, due to wildfire debris, as material covering the drain was clearly a mixture of water and ash, creating a sludge that blocked the drain grates and caused a large amount of pooling of water on the roof. I reported this to my aduster handling our smoke/ash damage claim, and it is his contention that a new claim must be filed, requiring an additional deductible payment; I believe this was all related to the Eaton wildfire, and should be handled under the same claim without incurring additional deductible. As the insured, am I entitled to have this water damage investigated and reimbursed under the current open claim, without incurring an additional deductible payment?

Thank you
