Rob is an accomplished commercial litigator and nationally recognized insurance regulator. In 2019, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker asked Rob to leave private practice to serve as Director for the Illinois Department of Insurance (IDOI). After his confirmation by the Illinois Senate, Rob helped secure many accomplishments for Illinoisans and the IDOI and became a recognized figure on the national insurance regulatory scene, including serving as Chair of the Accelerated Underwriting in Life Insurance Working Group and Co-Chair of one of the work streams on the Executive Special Committee on Race & Insurance.  Rob’s practice includes insurance regulatory, compliance and governmental affairs matters.

Rob has been an accomplished commercial litigator for over 25 years representing policyholders, corporations and institutions in trials, appeals and arbitrations in state and federal courts. His core practice included insurance coverage and bad faith claims, commercial litigation, financial fraud claims, legal malpractice cases and consumer class action cases. In addition to running his own law practice for over ten years, Rob clerked for the Honorable Allen Hartman in the Appellate Court of Illinois and worked at two large Chicago law firms (Hinshaw & Culbertson and Nixon Peabody (formerly Ungaretti & Harris).

As part of his litigation practice, Rob is actively involved in resolving commercial litigation and insurance disputes through alternative dispute resolution. He is a Panel Member of the American Arbitration Association Roster of Arbitrators & Mediators.
