Madera County’s eastern portion is largely FRA, where the Sierra National Forest responds to wildfires. The central third of the county is SRA and under the jurisdiction of Madera-Mariposa-Merced unit of CAL FIRE. The western part of the county, largely in the central valley, is LRA and protected by local and county fire departments.
