The insurance company doesn’t want to replace the roof, only repair it and an ITEL report was unable to identify the existing shingles. The report suggested a possible match, which is not even close to the existing shingles. What can I do, if anything?
Hi William,
I’m sorry to hear about the roof situation. Unfortunately, in Georgia, there is not a shingle matching law. Most homeowners’ insurance policies cover “like kind and quality,” meaning they attempt to match the damaged shingles as closely as possible, but an exact match isn’t always guaranteed. At this point, it is best to take a sample of the shingle to a reputable contractor who can assist in locating a match. Best, Judith
