Check UP: Volunteer Project – Helping homeowners review their insurance policies

On June 14, 2019, in Napa, United Policyholders hosted a community event called Check UP to help homeowners get prepared for wildfire season.  At Check UP, homeowners could bring a copy of their insurance policy and have an expert volunteer review the policy with them.  Knowing your limits and what’s inside your policy is key to avoiding the underinsurance crisis. Volunteers helped homeowners figure out how much they were insured for per square foot, helped determine if they have a “Replacement Cost” or an “Actual Cash Value” policy, and went over a checklist of important policy features that are often hidden in the fine print.

UP thanks members of the National Association of Public Insurance Adjusters for volunteering at this event. In exchange for one afternoon studying paperwork, homeowners received expert advice about their insurance policies and some well-deserved peace of mind.
