Dear _____________,

On [date], our insured home experienced [smoke damage or other type of damage] as a direct result of its proximity to [name of disaster]. I am continuing to do my best to document my loss and cooperate with your company to reach a fair and full settlement. I am writing to request completion of a thorough inspection of my home, documentation of the damage (scope), and remediation that will allow me to return my home to its pre-loss condition.

I am requesting this inspection be conducted by a licensed professional, such as a contractor, structural engineer, and/or a certified industrial hygienist. We would like to request that one or more of these licensed professionals provide detailed documentation of the damage and a line-item estimate of work that will be completed in each room as part of the restoration process.

Thank you in advance for agreeing to pay for the necessary restoration that will allow me to return to my home in its pre-loss condition.

Sincerely,

[YOUR NAME]
