Wildfire Risk Reduction (Mitigation) Resources

View grants, community programs and information that can help you reduce the chances of a wildfire damaging or destroying your home. “Home hardening” means home improvements.  “Defensible space” means creating a plant and tree-free zone around your home.

Seniors and Disabled Persons Defensible Space Program This program, available for senior and disabled residents of Calaveras County, provides a contractor to conduct property inspections and create defensible space around residents’ homes.

Calaveras County Tree Mortality Program This program sees to the removal of certain dead or dying trees at no cost to the property owner, once the County receives signed Right of Entry (ROE) forms back from property owners.
