View grants, community programs and information that can help you reduce the chances of a wildfire damaging or destroying your home. “Home hardening” means home improvements.  “Defensible space” means creating a plant and tree-free zone around your home.

Defensible Space Fire Hazard Reduction Program Contact your local Fire Department or Kern County Fire Safe Council for up-to-date information on any programs available to get assistance with creating defensible space and hazardous fuels removal around your home.
