Wildfire Risk Reduction (Mitigation) Resources

View grants, community programs and information that can help you reduce the chances of a wildfire damaging or destroying your home. “Home hardening” means home improvements.  “Defensible space” means creating a plant and tree-free zone around your home.

Mariposa RCD Home Hardening Program This grant funded program offered by the Mariposa County Resource Conservation District (RCD) includes an onsite property assessment followed by a personalized list of recommendations to harden your home against wildfire. When possible, they will also install ember screens on
attic and crawlspace vents, and clear vegetation from within five feet of the building foundation.Click here to access the application.

Mariposa FSC Chipping Program The Mariposa Fire Safe Council (FSC) offers free vegetation chipping service for fuel reduction efforts that maintain 100 feet of defensible space around inhabited residential properties.
