Wildfire Risk Reduction (Mitigation) Resources

View grants, community programs and information that can help you reduce the chances of a wildfire damaging or destroying your home. “Home hardening” means home improvements.  “Defensible space” means creating a plant and tree-free zone around your home.

Yolo County Fire Safe Council Chipper Day The Yolo County Fire Safe Council offers free chipping services to assist in biomass reduction of debris from defensible space and fuels reduction.

Reflective Address Sign Program This program provides free high quality reflective home address signs for high visibility at night and in smoky conditions
Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) Grant to offer financial and technical support to eligible agricultural producers and landowners for land management practices that reduce wildfire impacts in the wildland-urban interface (WUI), restore natural fire regimes in underdeveloped areas, and improve resource conditions after recent wildfires.
