Special Event: United Policyholders webinar to bring Roadmap to Recovery® guidance and answers for households impacted by Hurricane Milton before the one-year anniversary of the disaster

Sarasota, FL – With support from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County’s Suncoast Disaster Recovery Fund, the non-profit United Policyholders (UP) announced today that it will host a webinar on September 17th, 2025 in advance of the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Milton where an expert panel will outline strategies and resources for impacted households to resolve insurance disputes, reach fair and full claim settlements and access government and professional help.

The expert panel will include the nation’s leading insurance consumer advocate, a representative with the Bureau of Insurance Assistance, (Florida Department of Financial Services), a Florida-based policyholder attorney and a seasoned hurricane claim adjuster.

“Disaster anniversaries have an emotional impact and also trigger insurance and legal deadlines that can limit rights and options. People whose homes have been damaged or destroyed desperately need insurance benefits to fund repair, rebuild and recover.”, said United Policyholders Executive Director, Amy Bach.

“The goal of this webinar is to give people a roadmap for resolving insurance disputes and not losing their leverage or rights once the anniversary passes. We encourage people struggling with their Milton claims to register and pre-submit their claim questions at: www.uphelp.org/Sept17.”, said UP’s Senior Program Officer Emily Rogan.

UP has earned high marks over three decades for improving disaster recovery for hurricane-impacted households in Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and New York. Its Roadmap to Recovery® services include support from staff and volunteers with personal experience recovering from previous disasters, plus professional expert guidance on insurance, personal finances and construction matters.

Thanks to funding from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County and Florida-based staff and volunteers, United Policyholders is offering ongoing services to households impacted by Hurricane Milton. They include an online help library, access to an online “Ask an Expert” forum, educational events, and “drop-in” office hours with UP staff.
