Wildfire Risk Reduction (Mitigation) Resources

View grants, community programs and information that can help you reduce the chances of a wildfire damaging or destroying your home. “Home hardening” means home improvements.  “Defensible space” means creating a plant and tree-free zone around your home.

Green Waste Vouchers The Alpine Fire Safe Council offers Eastern Alpine County residents free vouchers for the disposal of greens waste. The goal is for Alpine County residents use these vouchers to continue cleaning up year round to protect homes and property from wildfires.

Curb Side Chipping Program Residents can contact the Alpine Fire Safe Council to sign up for vegetation chipping services every Thursday. Chipped materials will be broadcast back onto the property

CALFIRE Defensible Space Inspection Program Request a free defensible space inspection for your property. Inspections and recommendations to reach wildfire preparedness standards provided by CALFIRE in partnership with the Alpine Fire Safe Council
