Here is a sample of a detailed inventory spreadsheet donated by a volunteer and fire survivor. This sample home inventory broken down by room and can serve as a memory jogger for anyone working on a home inventory.

Please note: your insurance company may provide you with a template contents inventory spreadsheet that may be easier and more efficient for you to use than the following, particularly if it comes in a format that your adjuster is familiar with. Familiarize yourself with the contents inventory coverages and exclusions in your own  policy. For example, this sample spreadsheet labels the age of certain items as “antique” while some insurance policies exclude antique items.
