NEVADA CITY, Calif. March 15, 2017 – The Fire Safe Council of Nevada County FSCNC) is participating in the State’s Tree Mortality Task Force. Our local group is looking to gather data to make a case that insurance companies are not following state law when not renewing policies for lack of defensible space.
“The California Department of Insurance says they haven’t received complaints about non-renewal notices from insurance companies or the lack of options in the market for new policies,” said Joanne Drummond, FSCNC’s Executive Director. ” I told them I hear it every day.”
Working with United Policyholders, a consumer advocacy group, FSCNC is encouraging everybody to take this survey www.uphelp.org/survey The survey data is confidential.
The Task Force subgroup is also working with other counties – Mariposa, El Dorado, Placer, etc. – to send out this survey to gather data to demonstrate there is a problem in high wildfire hazard areas.
