El Dorado County has experienced large-scale wildfires in recent years. The county contains many fire safe councils and Firewise communities, and offers several mitigation programs to citizens.
Eldorado County is protected from wild fire by the Amador-El Dorado unit of CAL FIRE in the largely
SRA
eastern half of the county and by the Eldorado National Forest and Lake Tahoe Management Unit of the United States Forest Service on the mainly FRA
