Ventura County

Ventura County Outline

Ventura County is home to the Ventura County Wildfire Collaborative (VCWC), consisting of Ventura County Resource Conservation District, Ventura Regional Fire Safe Council, Ojai Valley Fire Safe Council, Bell Canyon Fire Safe Council, Ventu Park Fire Safe Council, Oak Park Fire Safe Council, and a private industry partner, Jensen Hughes (see the Fire Safe Councils tab below).  The VCWC is working on county-wide goals, including risk mapping, vulnerability assessments, evacuation planning, home hardening, and a regional Wildfire Summit.  Each VCWC member also have their own specific projects that are focused on their particular region of the County.   For more information see www.vcrcd.org/vcwc and the Fire Safe Council links below.

Ventura County is a Contract County and the Ventura County Fire Department protects both

LRA
and
SRA
under a contract with CAL FIRE. Much of the northern portion of the county is FRA where the Los Padres National Forest responds to wildfires. The Channel Islands are under the jurisdiction of the National Park Service.
